Ingredients

4 servings
Agar agar2 tsp powder
Water500 ml for jelly, 55 ml for dumplings, 45 ml for syrup
Sugar2 tsp
Glutinous rice flour (sweet rice flour)½ cup
Sweet red bean pasteabout 2/3 cup
Kiwi fruit1, sliced
Orange1 mandarin, segmented
Strawberriesa few, halved
Brown sugar⅓ cup, for syrup

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Boil agar with 500 ml water and sugar for 2 minutes, pour into a tray and chill until set. Cut into cubes.
  2. 2Mix the glutinous rice flour with water to an earlobe soft dough, roll small balls and boil until they float, then 1 minute more. Cool in iced water.
  3. 3Simmer brown sugar and water into a dark syrup. Cool.
  4. 4Arrange jelly, balls, bean paste and fruit in bowls and pour over syrup.
Serve it like this

Arrange in a glass bowl with each part in its own section, syrup in a small jug to pour at the table.
